This is the cheapest way to tactically break apart an entire squad of Combine soldiers. You can still outsmart and outmaneuver Combine soldiers early on in a battle by picking them off one-by-one.Д¬ombine soldiers also have flammable tanks sticking out of their backpacks, which can be shot, causing them to explode and deal collateral damage while also killing the original Combine soldier. Standard Combine soldier grunts can still pack a punch at range, firing at you with automatic weapons from behind cover while lobbing grenades to flush you out of defensive positions. The tricky part is aiming and getting a clear shot on them, which is why you should try firing at them from the hip. Luckily, they emit a loud whirring noise that makes them easy to recognize as they fly around your head, and they go down with only a couple of pistol bullets. If you aren't paying attention, even a lone manhack can sneak up on you and shave off a sizeable portion of your health. This enemy is a flying, spinning, chainsaw blade-equipped drone that will fly at you with incredible force. You can more easily take down an armored headcrab zombie with the shotgun and with explosives, making them a good target to unload your shells into when in range. Unlike the regular headcrab zombie, armored headcrab zombies will deflect standard pistol rounds when shot in the head. Shooting the green pustules on their limbs will kill them much quicker, but when in doubt, aim for the head.ДЄrmored headcrab zombies are basically the same as headcrab zombies, but with an armored headcrab sitting at the controls. Physically tough and dangerous in a group, the slow-moving garden-variety headcrab zombie is easy to kill at a distance with your pistol. Lightning Dog ZombieДЄ living lightning dog can enter any corpse and create an electricity-spewing lightning dog zombie. Once killed, the lightning dog will drop an item called a 'reviver', which operates the same way as a Combine battery and can even fit into the same battery slots. For the record, it doesn't actually resemble a dog in any way. This enemy type can do loads of damage to you with its electric attacks, and it'll take more than a few shotgun shells to kill it. You can identify a lightning dog by how it reacts with nearby objects as it passes by, creating a loud and bright electrical discharge that gives away the lightning dog's position.Дon't attempt to fight a lightning dog without first preparing yourself. When threatened, it will cloak itself under a haze of electric fog. Particularly tough to kill, this new enemy variant scuttles about while sending jolts of lightning in every direction. Not quite a headcrab, not quite a dog, the lightning dog is an awkward sort. The quickest way to kill them is with shotgun blasts and explosives.ДЇirst appearance: Chapter 5: The Northern Star They attack with a neurotoxin that can take away large chunks of your health, and their attacks can also temporarily blind you. Toxic headcrabs tend to appear in dark places where you'll need your trusty flashlight to identify them among the shadows. Especially dangerous in numbers, make sure to dispose of this noxious breed of headcrab before it can get the jump on you. Long, furry-legged toxic headcrabs make their return from previous Half-Life titles in Half-Life: Alyx. However, you can also use physical objects from the environment to block their jumping attacks and get them onto their backs where theyвЂ™re most vulnerable. The easiest way to kill them is by waiting for them to show their unarmored stomachs, then shooting them there. TheyвЂ™ll jump at you and do plenty of damage, making them quite the nuisance. You can also pick up objects and use those to shield yourself from headcrab onslaughts.ДЇirst appearance: Chapter 3: Is Or Will BeДЄrmored Headcrabs are encased with an armored shell that makes them difficult to beat conventionally. One way to mitigate damage from leaping headcrabs is by backing up and putting obstacles in between you as you fight them. That said, you donвЂ™t want them to leap onto you, as they can do some serious damage. Headcrabs are some of the most common enemies you can face in Half-Life: Alyx, and they generally go down with three or four well-placed pistol shots.
